Have you suddenly found a crack in your tooth? You’re not alone. Cracked teeth can happen to anyone, often without any warning. Whether it’s a sudden impact, biting down on something hard, or even age-related weakening, a cracked tooth can range from mildly uncomfortable to extremely painful. Also, it can risk further damage if not addressed promptly.
However small or seemingly insignificant, Dr. Marla Yee will not compromise the integrity of your smile and oral health. At Love Dental Studio, she offers cracked tooth repair in Washington, DC.
Forget the discomfort and restore your confidence. Cracked tooth repair is more than just a dental procedure – it’s a meticulous process designed to alleviate discomfort, prevent infection, restore aesthetics, and improve chewing capabilities. After all, our teeth don’t heal on their own.
At the heart of our cracked tooth repair service is a blend of precision dentistry and advanced materials. You can expect careful examination to assess the extent of the damage. Then, Dr. Yee will develop a personalized treatment plan just for you.
For minimal damage, cracked tooth repair typically involves dental bonding, where a tooth-colored resin is applied to the cracked tooth, restoring both its strength and natural appearance. In some cases, for more severe cracks, a dental crown is recommended to encapsulate and protect your tooth completely.
Cracked teeth can present in various forms, each with its implications for dental health and treatment options. Understanding the types of cracks is crucial for proper diagnosis and management, ultimately preserving dental integrity and function.
Craze Lines
Tiny cracks that affect only the outer enamel. These superficial fissures are often harmless and merely cosmetic.
Fractured Cusp
When a piece of a tooth’s chewing surface breaks off, it’s known as a fractured cusp. It usually doesn’t affect the pulp (inside of the tooth) and, as a result, might not cause much pain.
Cracked Tooth
This type of crack extends from the chewing surface vertically toward the root. If the crack extends into the root, it can cause significant pain and lead to infection.
Split Tooth
A split tooth is usually the result of a long-term cracked tooth. It is identified by a crack with distinct segments that can be separated. This type of crack often requires tooth removal.
Vertical Root Fracture
These cracks begin in the root and extend upwards to the chewing surface. They often show minimal symptoms until the surrounding bone and gum become infected.

I saw Dr. Yee as a new patient for a routine dental cleaning. On arrival I was promptly greeted by the front desk staff. I was brought back for treatment quickly. The dental assistant and hygienist were lovely. Dr. Yee talked me through every procedure, and even discussed the x-ray and photo findings with me. Dr. Yee and her staff provided excellent dental care. I will definitely be coming back!
The staff members were incredibly helpful and friendly, making me feel comfortable and at ease throughout my visit. The nurses and dentist demonstrated an impressive level of knowledge, taking the time to explain my dental concerns in a way that was easily understandable…10/10. And thank you Dr. Marla!
Great practice! Scheduling as a new patient was a breeze. I saw Dr. Yee who was very thorough and professional.
